What makes this model distinct

The US Dyson Supersonic Nural is a powered hair dryer with sensor-assisted features. Dyson says Scalp protect mode uses distance information to reduce temperature as the dryer approaches the head; attachment learning and pause detection are additional features. Those are manufacturer descriptions, not evidence from our own measurements. This review is based on the product page and user guide, and we have not dried hair, measured heat or compared noise, speed or durability. See the Dyson product information for the current product description.

Controls and attachments

The guide describes three airflow settings, four heat settings and a cold-shot control. The bundle matters: confirm the included attachments for the exact color and retailer listing before comparing options. Dyson explains that Scalp protect works with the Gentle air attachment and Styling concentrator; some features depend on the attachment and settings. An attachment you do not use is not a benefit merely because it appears in a photograph. Conversely, a diffuser or concentrator may be important if it suits your styling routine.

Before comparing bundles, write down the two attachments you would actually reach for and how you will store them. A dryer used by more than one adult might justify a broader selection, while someone with a consistent routine might prefer a simpler setup. Confirm the details of the exact package rather than assuming every colorway includes identical accessories. Consider the distance between your mirror and socket, and whether the dryer and its attachments have a convenient place to cool and be stored.

The value of automatic features

Automatic temperature adjustment could be convenient for someone who frequently styles close to the scalp, but it does not remove the need to use the machine carefully or establish that heat damage cannot occur. Dyson says pause detection reduces airflow and heat when the dryer is put down, with exceptions such as a connected diffuser. Read the guide for the behavior of each feature instead of treating pause detection as a replacement for switching off and unplugging the dryer. If you prefer entirely manual controls, consider whether you will actually use the automation.

Maintenance and safety

The user guide describes cleaning the filter cage and filter; check its steps before cleaning and follow all electrical instructions. Keep the inlet clear, do not use a damaged cord, and follow the warnings supplied with your machine. Store it after it has cooled, away from water. The manufacturer provides support information, but warranty terms depend on the purchase and market, so check those terms and authorized service options before buying. Verify the voltage on your own US unit before travel.

The decision

This model is most compelling on paper if automatic controls, attachment choices and access to manufacturer support are priorities. It is harder to justify when you mainly want a simple dryer and would leave most accessories unused. Compare total included accessories, your storage space, cord reach and return terms rather than relying on a headline feature. We cannot say whether it dries your hair faster or produces a particular finish because those outcomes were not tested.

Planning the bundle

List the attachments you would use before comparing bundles. Someone who concentrates airflow for a smooth style may value a concentrator, while someone who styles curls may care more about a diffuser. Check the exact US package because included pieces may vary. Older Supersonic attachments can fit in some cases, but Dyson describes limits on compatibility and the newer attachment-learning function; verify the particular accessory before assuming it will provide the same features.

Make room for the machine and its attachments near an outlet and a stable resting surface. Pause detect is not a substitute for turning the dryer off and unplugging it. If automatic features are not useful to you, compare the product with simpler models on the controls and accessories you will actually use, rather than paying attention only to the number of features listed.

Filter and support

The US user guide explains the removable filter cage and cleaning procedure. Follow those steps with the machine disconnected and keep the air inlet clear. Save the model information and purchase record for support, and inspect the cord and plug before use. For travel, check the electrical rating on your actual unit; do not assume a plug adapter changes voltage. These checks do not establish drying speed or heat performance, which we did not measure.

Decision at a glance

  • Close-to-scalp styling: review the compatible attachments for Scalp protect mode.
  • Styling attachments: check what comes with the exact US bundle.
  • Automatic features: consider whether you will use them frequently.
  • Filter: plan to clean it according to the US guide.
